Website Updates
Our thirteenth Journal is now available, as well as two sets of photos — one of a student trip to visit some rift valley lakes and one of leaving parties.
Summer Hols
We're just back to Awassa after spending three weeks with some of our friends from the UK. We had a great time in the south and north — report to follow.
Work
Psych’ing our selves up for the last few months of our placements now — we'll be here for half a semester, which means until around Christmas time.

Nearly There
We've nearly reached the end of our semester, third years are finished, second years just have exams now. Then on with preparations for next year!
Summer Time
It's cold and wet. I actually had to wear a thin coat over my shirt on the way to work the other day - imagine that! Wet is much appreciated in our garden.

Another Year Older
Well we've both negotiated that time of the year when we change the representation of our age by incrementing it in an integer step. Many thanks for all the cards and gifts which you sent, it eased the pain no end...
Photo Page
A few collections added - Christmas, a wedding and a bike trip.
Journal
You did get the irony when I said 'bring you right up to date real soon', didn't you..? Well here's something of an update anyway.

Back from the UK
We're well and truely back in Awassa now, having spent an immensely enjoyable few weeks in the lovely Kingdom of British.
Journal
A somewhat dated journal entry has been added, but hey if you've not seen it yet, it might be interesting... Hopefully we'll bring you bang-up-to-date real soon.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Well, we've done Ferenji Christams, now we just have Ferenji New Year and Habisha Christmas to go in the next two weeks. Seasons greetings to one and all.
Tourist Photos
We've finally sorted out some photos of the tourist sights in the North of Ethiopia, these can be found on our photos page of course...

Telephone:
We've got one! Proceed to our contact details for more info...
Internet:
Well... not wishing to speak too soon, it's got a lot better.

Internet:
The internet connection to here has become on the whole diabolical, occasionally we are able to download things of a reasonable size (in this context that means files around 200kB). We have further limited the size of our incoming emails to 10kB, which is enough for a couple of pages of text. You can still send attachments if you want, but it may take us a while to actually download them - obviously baby photos (of both the human and bricks and mortar kinds) are worth persevering with!
Back to school:
Term starts next week, the campus is already starting to fill up with students. It's been nice to spend the summer doing some travelling and making preparations for the upcoming semester, but eventually I suppose we have to face some students...

Website:
Have managed to get together a much due update with more journal and photos from our trip to Wondo Genet. Trying out a new way of presenting the photos so please let me know if you experience any difficulties. Some Ethiopia information is available - mainly of interest to prospective visitors.
Holidays(..?):
It is theoretically the holidays at the moment, but due to the late start of the freshman students they are presently taking their second semester. This means that Jenny has been teaching the freshman students and has also been called in to teach part of a summer 'extension' course. However we managed to squeeze in a trip up north with my sister and her bloke which was really great - will eventually get some photos up...

Baby Harriet:
We are very pleased to be Aunt and Uncle now after the somewhat later than expected delievery of baby Harriet. So congratulations to Liz and Jim, see you all in 19 months!
Birthdays:
We are now both a year wiser than we were a week ago. We managed 68km of celebration over the weekend on a trip to the hot springs at Wondo Genet. Very much enjoyed the soothing waters while we were there. Perfect exam marking antidote.
Exams:
Been very busy with examinations lately, so appologies if anyone's been waiting to hear from us. Should be just about out of the way now so hopefully we can forget all about it and move on...

26 April 2003

Website:
Navigation overhaul. Hope you find it easier to get to and fro. Another journal entry, information about our placements and us! No new photos I'm afraid. A plan at the mo' is to get some typical images of life here arranged.
Events:
It's Easter here now (a week later than in the UK) and it's a pretty big deal (kinda like Christmas). Good Friday was a was an all-day Churchathon and the fast broke on Saturday night!

06 April 2003

Website:
New journal entry, we've started a fresh file, so if you managed to get through the last one, you can skip straight onto the new one. Quite a few more photos, now arranged into some sort of order and accessed via thumbnails, we want to add some descriptions - hopefully next time!
Placements:
Wow, it's mid-semester exam time next week, so we're busy composing exam questions. heh heh heh.
Internet access:
...is still sporadic (think we're managing to check mail about twice a week at the moment), on the upside we have sorted our outgoing mail now so we can reply directly from our neal-jenny.info mail.

08 March 2003

Placements:
we've been teaching 1st year couses for about two weeks now and are getting more involved in laboratory work and faculty matters.
Domestic affairs:
we're settled into our house and have got the hang of six hours of water a day (12am-6am), needless to say we have some buckets.
Internet access:
we have sporadic internet access and have yet to figure out our ISP's outgoing mail server so we are imited to receiveing neal-jenny.info mail. We have our web-mail, but it is a bit tricky with limited time online.
